Hello! I’m Lauren Greenwood, a Toronto-based, non-union screenwriter, copywriter, playwright and director.

I’m also a teacher at heart. I share what I’ve learned about screenwriting and the biz with my 2400+ subscribers at CUT TO: Writing a Movie on Substack.

I began crafting plays as a teenager before discovering the limitless possibilities of writing for the screen in my early 20s. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature and German, I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting.

For almost two decades, I’ve used my versatility as a writer to work in TV movies, shorts, features, YouTube, FAST and story editing as well as German-English translation, copywriting and copyediting.

My work commonly revolves around themes of friendship, identity and finding human connection in unexpected places, be it in comedy, factual or sci-fi thrillers.

My favourite film genres are screwball comedies and horror that makes me hide behind a pillow.
