Lauren Greenwood is a non-union screenwriter and playwright in both training and practice. Her passion for language and story has always been an artistic beacon throughout her life.

She shares almost everything she’s learned about screenwriting and the business with her 2400+ subscribers at CUT TO: Writing a Movie on Substack.

Lauren began crafting plays as a teenager before discovering the limitless possibilities of writing for the screen in her early 20s. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in English Literature and German, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from York University in Screenwriting.

For almost two decades, Lauren has used her quick wit and versatility as a writer to build a screenwriting career in TV movies, shorts, features, YouTube, FAST, and story editing. Her work commonly revolves around themes of friendship, identity and finding human connection in unexpected places, be it in comedy, factual or sci-fi thrillers.

Her favourite film genres are screwball comedies and horror that makes you hide your eyes.
