Toronto-born and based Lauren Greenwood is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright (a proud member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada), standup comedian and improvisor. With a Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and German, she has been developing her craft for well over a decade.
Lauren’s screen credits include writing for the award-winning Canadian comedy series Out There with Melissa DiMarco. Her first short Red Balloon, directed by Avi Federgreen, is being produced in 2019. Her feature film Gaslight, which earned her the Telefilm Canada New Voices Award, was also shortlisted for the 2019 NSI Features First program.
Her debut play and directorial debut, An Atlas, A Necktie & Other Concerns, earned her a spot as finalist for the Cayle Chernin Award for Theatre Production this year. The play premiered at the Scripted Toronto Festival on May 18, 2019 in the Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace and will be playing at the Tarragon Theatre Mainspace as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival, July 3 – 14, 2019.
